Children who finish Metric are more likely to be employed as adults and less likely to be caught up by crime. Female have a high chance of getting pregnant. Most of them after realising that they are pregnant they leave school especially in the middle of the year. They are lot of campaigns talking about safe sex but school girls still do get pregnant and start being ashamed of themselves, this result in pregnant girls not coming to school.

You can get pregnant in the middle of the year and still finish the year coming to school. It’s useless and a waste of time to stay at home when you can still finish your studies. On top of that you must stop feeling sorry for yourself and accept the outcomes of the choices you made.
According to education MEC Barbara Creecy:
· “We need to know what those of us in education can do about pupils falling pregnant,”she said.
· “We know they are not falling pregnant due to lack of information. They know about the birds and the bees.”

Girls who fell pregnant at school had to be encouraged to return and finish their education. Children who stayed on course were more likely to be employed as adults, less likely to be caught up by crime and were healthier, she said at an education colloquium:
· “We need to know what those of us in education can do about pupils falling pregnant,”she said.
· “We know they are not falling pregnant due to lack of information. They know about the birds and the bees.”
Educationists, academics and a number of civic organisations were at the meeting to discuss ways to stop children from dropping out of school before they finish Metric.Creecy said the situation had vastly improved since 1994 but there were still too many pupils not completing their education.
Schoolgirl pregnancy was a major reason for not finishing school. Other reasons included domestic responsibilities, boredom and repeated failure.From a Public Relation point of view the language of persuasion should be used effectively in order to pursue the pregnant girls to still stay at school even when they are pregnant

Which methods of encouragement for the girls to come back to school would you recommend,as a PRP for the education department.
ReplyDeleteAs a PR i would recommend One on one conversation with their teachers enlightening them how it is important for them to come back to school and showing them that it is not impossible to make it through out the year pregnant
DeleteI beleive the education system must not victimise students that fall pregnant at school it does not help having the students come back to school but they are made to feel unwelcome.

DeleteIt is unfair when a girl gets pregnant and has to drop out of school while the guy or boyfriend gets to continue with his studies. The Department of Education has done a lot to improve in teenage pregnancy but it depends on the individual to make the right choice so how does the department persuade one individual to do the right thing?
